Adaptability: Embracing Change in the Way We Move

Adaptability: Embracing Change in the Way We Move

As the buzz builds around the London Marathon, I’ve been reflecting on how much our approach to movement evolves over time. Whether you're training for a big event, recovering from an injury, juggling a hundred daily responsibilities, or simply feeling uninspired by your usual routine adaptability becomes the key to keeping going.

In my 20s, I was a keen runner. I used to pack my running kit into my work bag, eagerly swapping out my office clothes at the end of the day to chase the freedom of the open road.
Nothing felt better after hours indoors than running the six uphill miles home. It was my time my space to breathe, to move, to reconnect. I didnt have anything special to run with, I don't think I had a watch or even headphones. I found it so relaxing to run, even when the hills were beating me.

But life changes. And sometimes, it changes in ways we don’t expect.

Over a decade ago, injuries forced me to take a pause. What began as a setback became the start of a different journey one that led me into teaching Pilates and Barre, exploring movement in new, nourishing ways. These practices helped me rebuild strength, find stability, and most importantly, learn how to listen to my body.

At first, stepping away from running felt like a loss. But over time, I realised it was actually a lesson an opportunity to adapt, to grow, to find new joy in movement.

Adaptability is Not a Weakness—It’s a Superpower

I’ve learned that being adaptable isn’t about giving up. It’s about staying curious. It’s about asking, “What can I do today?” instead of mourning what I can’t. Even when running has become so much more than the simple run home from work.

It’s also about being brave.
Brave enough to go on the occasional jog even when it’s no longer your daily norm.
Brave enough to try a class that feels totally new.
Brave enough to acknowledge when your body needs something different—something gentler, deeper, or simply more joyful.

Through this journey, I’ve discovered so much more than just new exercises. I’ve learned how to be kind to myself. How to reframe strength. How to teach other women to do the same.

For Every Woman Who Feels a Shift Coming

Maybe you're not where you used to be. Maybe you're entering a new phase physically, emotionally, hormonally. I want you to know:
You’re not alone. And you don’t need to “bounce back.”
Instead, let’s learn to lean in to change with our bodies, not fight against them.

I want to help you:

  • Tune into your body’s changing needs

  • Feel empowered by movement, not intimidated by it

  • Rebuild confidence from the inside out

Whether you're easing back after time off, dealing with injuries, or just feeling out of sync with your old routines, remember: your strength hasn’t gone anywhere. It’s just evolving.

Together, We Adapt. Together, We Grow.

Running will always be my first love. But movement is my forever home. I am trying to run again and although I am able to do more than even a few years ago it will never be the same, but I am grateful for what I’ve gained in its place. A deeper understanding of my body. A more compassionate relationship with myself. A chance to help others adapt and thrive.

So if you’re ready to explore a new kind of strength, I’m here for it and for you.

Let’s take ownership of our movement. Let’s celebrate our strong, happy bodies whatever that looks like today.
Because together, we can get stronger.
Together, we can get better.
Together, we can move forward.
