Hi, I’m Anna Cornwell, founder of Mardy Bum Active Club.

Mardy Bum was born from a simple but powerful belief: movement can change your mood.

As women, we move through so many seasons in our lives. From young girls figuring out who we are, to navigating careers, motherhood, stress, hormones, shifting identities and changing bodies  we are constantly adapting. And yet, so often the fitness world tells us movement has to look one specific way. Fast. Lean. Sexy. Serious.

Mardy Bum Active Club is the opposite of that.

“Mardy Bum” is that grumpy, fed-up, can’t-be-bothered feeling we all get sometimes. And this brand exists to gently nudge you away from that mood  not with pressure or perfection but with encouragement, colour and a little bit of fun.

Because movement doesn’t have to be all or nothing.

It can be small.

It can be slow.

It can change as you change.

There is a movement out there that will make you feel good and we believe every woman deserves to find hers.

Sport was always a huge part of my life Three brothers and PE teachers as parents it was inevitable. Team games, running, being active  it shaped my identity. But at 28, a car accident changed everything. I broke my neck of femur, my pelvis and my lower leg in multiple places. Overnight, the sports I loved were no longer available to me in the same way.

I had to relearn my body.

I had to adapt.

I had to let go of what “fit” used to look like.

That journey wasn’t just physical  it was emotional too. I understand the frustration women feel when their bodies won’t do what they used to, or what they think they “should” be able to do.

Pilates became my anchor. It helped me rebuild strength and confidence. I can now run and jog in small doses, but I’ve learned that movement doesn’t have to look like it once did to still be powerful.

That experience is the heartbeat of Mardy Bum Active Club.

Mardy  Bum began with activewear, but over time we pivoted and focused on what truly captured our message sports socks that refused to be boring. 

Our socks are designed to spark joy, start conversations and remind you (and everyone around you) that movement can be colourful, playful and uplifting. They’re high quality, responsibly made in the UK in small runs, allowing us to produce thoughtfully and avoid overproduction. When a line does well, we repeat it intentionally and sustainably.

We’re proud to work with a small number of trusted factories and to see our socks shining brightly in independent stores. Supporting independent retailers is a huge part of our community story.

Mardy Bum Active Club isn’t about chasing a certain body.

It’s about moving away from the grump.

It’s about sprinkling fun onto movement.

It’s about encouraging women  in every season of life  to keep moving in whatever way feels good.

Because when we move, even a little, everything shifts.

And that’s where the magic starts.
