As a Mum in my 40's these are things I tell my kids and think you should know too...

So I re-purposed the advice and brought it to life for Mardy Bum Active Club:
At Mardy Bum Active Club, we believe sport is about so much more than competition or performance. It’s about connection with your body, your mind, and the people around you.
Whether you’re picking up a new hobby, returning to something you used to love, or helping your kids find their way in sport, these are the three simple rules we live by.

1. Always Have Fun with Sport
It can be competitive YES! 💪 But it should always stay fun, no matter your level.
Even the highest paid athletes need to enjoy what they do; otherwise, what’s the point?
When sport stops being fun, it loses its spark and that joy is what keeps us coming back.
So, whether you’re training for a race, joining a local Pilates class, or just moving for the love of it, keep it light. Keep it playful. Because fun is what fuels consistency.

2. Keep on Trying
Not being good at something teaches you more than being a natural ever will.
That’s where the growth happens in the messy, sweaty, keep-going moments. Determination and grit will always outshine natural talent.
At Mardy Bum, we celebrate the ones who keep showing up. The ones who fall, get up, and try again. Because that’s where confidence builds. That’s where the magic is.
3. Learn to Do It Solo
Doing it solo means showing up for yourself. 💪
You learn to be consistent, to trust your own rhythm, and sometimes even to enjoy your own company.
Movement doesn’t always have to be social — sometimes, it’s deeply personal. Those quiet, solo sessions can be where you reconnect with yourself and rediscover your strength.
The Mardy Bum Mindset
These three simple ideas — have fun, keep trying, and learn to go solo — aren’t just about sport. They’re about life.
They remind us that movement is joy, progress takes patience, and strength often grows when no one’s watching.
So whatever you’re doing running, stretching, lifting, flowing do it with heart.
Because when we enjoy the process, that’s when we truly thrive.
