Being Purposeful...

Being Purposeful...

Okay, that sounds like a pretty deep stating point for a blog but hear me out.

At 41, I’ve come to realise that purpose is the thread that holds us together. Yes, we all enjoy the holidays, the moments of escape a weekend away, a week in the sun but it’s the time in between that really matters. That’s when we need purpose.

As a mum, my purpose is clear: to look after my kids, make sure they’re okay, help them grow into kind, resilient little humans. And no, I don’t mean keeping them constantly happy by giving in to every snack request or buying the latest gadget. It’s about helping them feel seen, safe, and supported.

But that’s not what this blog is about.

What I want to talk about is purpose or me, as a woman.

And I feel lucky, because I know what makes me feel purposeful: encouraging women to keep moving. Whether it's through online challenges, in-person classes, or even simple tips and tricks shared on Instagram, my mission is to keep women moving in a way that feels good, empowering, and real.

After over seven years of teaching Pilates, I know who I am in this space. I don’t feel the need to prove that I’m living my “Pilates era” by rigidly sticking to the original rules set by a man in the early 20th century. My style has always been about adapting the method to suit the real people standing (or lying!) in front of me. And that’s what keeps it alive.

My Zoom classes are still going strong. The same beautiful group of women have shown up since we started during lockdown. I love teaching them no two classes are the same. I keep things fresh, I build on progress, I try to make them feel challenged and supported. But it’s a small group. And I want to reach more women.

That’s where I had hoped my activewear brand would come in. I poured so much love and thought into it, making it as sustainable as I could. But the reality of balancing small production, fair pricing, promotional gifting, and standing out in a saturated market? It’s tough. That dream has had to take a step back for now.

Still, I’m not done. I believe so deeply in this message of movement and joy, and I’m finding new ways to share it. Right now, that means socks. Yes socks!

It might seem like a small thing, but they’re more than just an accessory. Our socks are functional supportive, comfy, breathable but they also carry cheeky, playful messages. Because movement doesn’t have to be serious to be meaningful. It can be fun, light-hearted, and still do something good for your body and mind.

So here it is: my purpose is to create a brand that encourages women to move. To move with joy, without pressure, without comparison. To move because it feels go not because we have to prove anything.

And for now, that purpose lives in a pair of socks.
