Get Busy Living: Why Our First Charity Socks Are for Hambo

Some launches mean more than others.

This one is deeply personal.

We’re incredibly proud to be launching our Get Busy Living charity socks in support of someone who embodies exactly what those words stand for our very good friend, Matt Hampson.

If you don’t know who Matt is, let me tell you why you should.

I’ve known Matt since I was 20 years old. He was best mates with my boyfriend at the time now my husband  and I met him before his life changed forever. Back then, Matt was on track to become one of the best rugby players in the country. He played for Leicester Tigers, one of England’s top teams, and had a full professional career ahead of him.

Then, during an England rugby training session, Matt suffered a catastrophic accident. He fractured his neck, and from that day on, he lost movement from his shoulders down.

In an instant, everything changed.

What didn’t change, though, was who Matt is.

Out of the hardest thing imaginable, Matt went on to create something extraordinary: the Matt Hampson Foundation. What started as a way to raise money for Matt  including selling players’ shirts, with my husband helping to get things off the ground — has grown into something far bigger than anyone could have imagined.

Today, the foundation is not just a centre, but a lifeline.

It’s a place where people with serious sports injuries can find specialised physios, adapted gyms, counselling services, respite support for families, and  just as importantly a community that truly understands what they’re going through.

But if you ask me what really sets Matt’s foundation apart, it’s this:

It’s built on love.

Not in a loud or obvious way. But in the kind of way that matters most when you’re injured, vulnerable, and unsure of who you are anymore. Love as support. Love as patience. Love as belief. Love as the starting point for recovery.

That resonates with me more than I can say.

In my late 20s, I was in a serious car accident. And while my journey was different, I remember how frightening it is when your body doesn’t feel like it belongs to you anymore. When you don’t know if you’ll be able to move the same way, function the same way, or live the life you knew before.

What gets you through moments like that isn’t just treatment, it’s people. It’s community. It’s being surrounded by those who get it.

That’s exactly what Matt has created.

And as a brand, what he does aligns so closely with what we’re trying to do  just in a different guise. We exist to support women to move, to feel confident in their bodies, and to show up fully in all the roles they play. At the heart of that is encouragement, belief, and connection.

So when we decided to create our very first charity socks, there was only ever one choice.

Hambo.

This April, Matt and his team are taking on the London Marathon  an incredible challenge in itself. We wanted to support that mission in a way that felt true to us, and true to him. So we created a pair of socks with classic rugby stripes —a nod to where it all began —and a message that means everything: Get Busy Living.

Donate here.

These socks are more than just socks.

They’re about resilience. Community. Love. And choosing to keep moving forward, even when life takes an unexpected turn.

We hope you’ll support Matt, his team, and the incredible work of the Matt Hampson Foundation by supporting this launch.

Because when we move together  we really can make a difference
