Why I Call Myself a Fitness Instructor (Even Though I Teach Pilates)

I’ve been teaching Pilates for over seven years now, and I absolutely love it. But here’s something I’ve come to realise: I don’t actually see myself as a “Pilates teacher.” And I don’t think of Pilates as something that should exist in isolation either.

That might sound strange at first — after all, I’ve built my career around it. But I don’t teach Pilates just so people can get “better at Pilates.” I don’t care if someone can hold a plank for 20 minutes. That’s not the point.

Pilates, for me, is a tool a brilliant, effective, body-lawakening tool,to help women feel strong, move better, and tune into what their body truly needs. It’s not about chasing perfection or proving something. It’s about supporting you in real life.

And that means through all of it:
Pre- and post-babies.
When your hormones shift.
As your priorities change.
As you move through different decades of life.

There’s no gold medal for the best teaser or most elegant roll-up. But there is strength to be found. Awareness to be built. Ease to be reclaimed. Pilates gives you the foundation to move well not just during class, but in everything you do. Whether it’s running, lifting, chasing toddlers, hiking, dancing, or simply making it through a long workday without feeling broken it’s all connected.

So yes, I teach Pilates. But I think of myself more as a fitness instructor. Someone who helps women build the kind of strength, awareness, and confidence that lasts far beyond the mat.

This summer, I’m offering a Pilates Summer Session a great introduction if you’re new, or a way to reconnect if you’ve stepped away. It’s not just about learning Pilates it’s about learning what you need. To feel good in your body. To move with intention. To build strength that serves you, not just in class but everywhere else in life.

Because you don’t need to be a Pilates pro. You just need to start listening to your body  and giving it the attention it deserves.

Hoping we can inspire you to feel the benefits of movement,
